Find of the Month: Eaune Skincare
I’m actually pretty psyched that for the last few months, I’ve had the opportunity to showcase Canadian brands in the ‘Find of the Month’ spot. This month is no different. Eaune Skincare was developed by Esther Avanesova, after a longtime fascination with natural products and their benefits. See, while studying Science at McGill University, Esther began putting the pieces together. Your skin is the largest organ in the human body. What you put onto it will be absorbed into the body. So why would you want to apply harsh and possibly toxic chemicals?
So Esther began experimenting – for years, actually – to develop a face cream that would nourish her skin, provide plenty of antioxidant power, smell great, and keep her complexion looking fresh and revitalized all day long. Once she finally came up with a winning formula, she spent another chunk of time understanding the preservation process (always a challenge when you’re working with natural ingredients) and managed to come up with a winning combination of organic acids. Finally, Esther not only mastered the brand’s first face cream, she was able to expand it into a full line of complementary, high performance products.
Now admittedly, this isn’t the first natural skincare brand I’ve featured on this blog. So let’s spend some time talking about what makes Eaune special. The line currently consists of six core products (including the Day Cream – $28 and Night Cream – $28, pictured above) that all have their own unique individual purpose – but all work perfectly together to give you radiant skin, naturally. I’ve actually been using the brand over the past two months and my number one piece of glowing feedback is how light it feels. One critique a lot of natural brands get is their products are too greasy or slick, because they’re heavily based on plant oils. That’s true here – the top ingredients include coconut, argan and jojoba oils – but with the way they’re formulated and blended together, it feels just as smooth and airy as any other cream I’d buy off the drugstore shelves – perfect for summer, but providing enough moisturization and protection for the winter too.
Another common complaint with natural care products is that there’s “no way” they could compete with the pricy, anti-aging formulas on the market. Not true with Eaune. When used in tandem, the powerful antioxidants and lush, oftentimes organic botanicals infused into every pump of every product will help fight the signs of aging and keep your skin looking taut and refreshed. If I had to pick a fave product from the entire Eaune line, I might be tempted to say their Anti-Aging Eye Cream ($28). It’s got a lovely, refreshing scent and makes my normally tired-looking eye area not only feel hydrated, but look brighter than usual. Your eye area, for the record, is one place I seriously advocate springing for a good product and applying it religiously. Your skin is so thin there and it does some pretty heavy lifting – every time you smile, frown or make any kind of expression, it’s the skin around your eyes that gets bunched up and stretched out. A good moisturizer is *critical* to keeping that area look young.
The final piece of the Eaune puzzle are two lovely face masks that can be used alternately, or for whatever you’d like to focus on. The Purifying Detox Mask ($22) is ideal for when you’re looking for a serious deep cleanse to get rid of all that gunk that tends to build up while shrinking your pores. Meanwhile, the Rejuvenating Vitamin Mask ($22) contains real silk proteins to help smooth out your skin and slow down the aging clock.
